Anorexia Ashlee Simpson During 2005 it was reported that Ashlee Simpson suffered from anorexia and had quite a struggle with it. She claims she struggled with the disease while rising to fame but is now quite satisfied with her weight. Ashley claims that she was eleven years old when she first had her eating problem and she was 5' 2" and only weighted 70 pounds. She said she went for about six months without eating hardly anything at all. She was in a ballet class with other girls who had eating disorders too. Ashlee claims her family made her eat and she has them to thank for helping her through her problem. Ashlee is now very proud of her curves and it bothers her to see others who are starving themselves. The beautiful blonde Ashlee is the sister of the famous singer Jessica Simpson. It is a shame how society has taken over the lives of so many young people like Ashlee to the point that they feel that they have to starve themselves in order to belong in whatever venture they are interested in. Many young people are so vulnerable and have such a low self esteem that they think that being skinny will make them feel better about themselves. Also when other young people see famous people like models, actresses, actors, athletes, singers, and other celebrities who they look up to and they are thin, they feel they have to be thin too in order to succeed. Many of them become anorexic because they diet by either not eating, eating very little, and eating food that has no fats or calories. They sometimes add excessive exercise to this and their body suffers tremendously. The victim loses weight and continues losing weight thinking that they are still fat even when they have fallen below their normal weight for them. Anorexia takes over the mind and tells the victim that they are still fat so that is what they see when they look in the mirror. They continue to lose weight until they weigh so little that their vital organs are damaged and the victim needs medical attention. Anorexia can damage every vital organ in the body and some of the damage may not be repaired. The anorexic victim often hides their signs and symptoms by wearing layered or baggy clothing. By the time others become aware that there is a problem, some damage to the body has already been done. Some of the signs and symptoms one can look for are thin appearance, victim looks in the morror a lot and weighs themselves a lot, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, thinning of hair, falling out or breaking of hair, brittle nails, low blood pressure, osteoporosis, dehydration, dry skin, cessation of menstruation (in females), decreased testosterone (in females), trouble concentrating, refusal to eat, lack of emotion, making excuses not to eat, and more.
