Anorexia En Chile Anorexia en Chile is not rare. Anorexia cases are not just in the United States. They are diagnosed all over the world. There may be more cases found in the United States, Britain, or some other countries but it is fast becoming a problem that will affect every country in the world. The society we live in is the main problem although there are other factors which may also be a cause. Anorexia is nor usually caused by one factor alone. It is usually a combination of society, abuse, peer pressure, low self esteem, genetics, or maybe other factors. The cause can be any two or more of these factors. There may be biological, psychological, or sociocultural factors involved. No matter what the cause, it is becoming more and more of a problem and it will not go away but it can be contained with everyone’s help. The public needs to be educated about anorexia and other eating disorders so they can identify it when they see it. We can help those around us if we can learn to identify the signs and symptoms in time to prevent major damage to the victim. If everyone knew the signs and symptoms and what the results can be if the disease is not caught in time and treatment is not given, maybe some would think twice about going on a crash diet. Crash diets and excessive exercise are not healthy for anyone and no one should be pressured into losing weight quickly. We have pictures, movies, tv shows and other celebrities activities thrown at us all of the time and we see many ‘skinny’ people who look like death warmed over but to some they are their idols and they feel they have to look like that in order to succeed like their idols did. There are eating disorder treatment centers in the United States and in Britain. There are also support centers for those who are suffering from eating disorders. They have hotlines so if someone needs to talk to someone they can call. The majority of people diagnosed with eating disorders are our younger people between the ages of 10 and 20. There is so much peer pressure on our young kids today and they are very vulnerable so they are easily swayed into thinking they have to be ‘skinny’ to succeed. Older people are struck with the disease too and this is usually because they had an illness which led to an eating disorder. The majority of deaths from anorexia are over 70 years old and are male. The reason for this is believed to be because it is not diagnosed in the elderly until it is too late. Elderly may be afflicted with anorexia because they forget to eat, are suffering from some illness, or they are stressed because of the loss of a loved one. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
