Anorexia En La Adolescencia

Anorexia En La Adolescencia is still an eating disorder no matter what language it is in. Anorexia is most often diagnosed in adolescents between the ages of 10 and 20 with the average being 17. Young people are under a lot of peer pressure and some have such a low self esteem that they feel they have to lose a lot of weight fast in order to ‘fit in’ with society or to succeed in life. There are several factors which is reported to be the cause of anorexia and other eating disorders. There may be biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors involved. Some people may be genetically tied to someone who has an eating disorder so this would put them at a higher risk. There is psychological and emotional problems that may be a factor in the mix. Low self worth and an obsessive compulsive disorder makes it easier for the victim to stick to the diets or non eating habits. They see themselves as fat when they look in a mirror even when they are already too thin. They never think they are thin enough so they continue to diet until health problems begin to surface and medical help is needed.

The modern western culture shows that many see thin celebrities so they think they will feel better about themselves if they are thin too. They think it is the answer to their problems. We see thin models, actresses, actors, athletes, and other celebrities and there is the need to look like them. Some people think they have to look thin or they will not belong anywhere. The stress on weight loss is so great that some feel it has to be or else. It is not so much the weight loss to lose a few pounds in order to get to the average weight for the size of the person, it is the fast and excessive weightloss that is the problem. Many people are overweight and need to lose some weight in order to be healthy but losing too much weight, too fast can also become a health hazard. Being extremely underweight is just as dangerous to the health as being extremely overweight.

After the body has been damaged there are severe repercussions because some of the damage may not be reversed and in some cases the damage is so severe, there is death. Anorexia causes damage to all of the vital organs in the body with the main concerns on the heart, lungs, brain, liver, and kidneys. It is important that the victim get medical treatment as soon as possible to avoid this damage. People need to be aware of the signs and symptoms so they can help those that are close to them.
