Anorexia How To Some people do not know how to deal with someone who has anorexia or some other eating disorder. There is a lot of information all about anorexia as well as pictures, stories, charts, graphs, and statistics about anorexia online. You can do a quick search and find many websites that deal with anorexia. Some of them have some very good information about the signs and symptoms of anorexia so you will know what to look for. It would be a good idea if everyone were educated on the subject of anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders. Eating disorders are fast multiplying because there is so much stress put on people to lose weight. Society shows us all of the skinny models, actresses, actors, athletics, singers, and other celebrities and this makes many feel that they have to look like that if they are going to fit in with society. Others have a lot of peer pressure, abuse, or low self esteem and they feel that by losing weight they will feel better about themselves. The cause of anorexia can be a combination of these factors. There is biological, socialcultural, and psychological factors which cause anorexia. The public needs to be aware of the signs and symptoms so they can help someone should the need arise. There have been over 8 million people diagnosed with eating disorders and the number is rising fast. There are a lot more people suffering from anorexia and other eating disorders because of the culture we live in today. Of the eight million, over one million are males and the majority of anorexic victims are between the ages of 10 and 20. The average age is 17. There are a few kids under 10 years of age who suffer from anorexia but it is rare. The majority of people who die from anorexia are senior citizens over the age of 70 and most of them are male. That does not mean that there are not any younger people who die from anorexia, on the contrary, there are many. Karen Carpenter was only 32 when she died from complications caused from anorexia. Daniel Johns (famous singer) almost died from anorexia before he sought help. Thank goodness he made a full recovery but it was a long drawn our miserable affair for him. He also thought about committing suicide. Suicide is not unusual with a person suffering from anorexia or other eating disorders. It is very important for the world to become educated as far as eating disorders go. The numbers are rising because there is so much stress put on losing weight. There are treatment centers for people suffering from eating disorders but that is not enough. Everyone needs to do their part and try to help those who are suffering from the disease so they can get help before the damage is done instead of after the fact.
