Anorexia Kate Moss Super model Kate Moss has been accused of being anorexic. And has continually denied it. She was also accused of using cocain which is sometimes a train of an anorexic person. Kate began her modeling career in 1988 when Sarah Ducas of the Storm Agency discovered Kate at the JFK airport. Kate’s first modeling job was to model topless for the British magazine called ‘The Face’. Not long after that she was known as the face for Calvin Klein. Her nude appearances for Calvin Klein ads were not the only aspects of her successful career. Her thinness started many allegations about her being anorexic. This caused many critics to blame her for the rise in anorexia in young women. There were also reports that Kate had a stormy relationship with Johnny Depp and there were also reports of frequent trips to a rehab center and that she was also having trouble with liver failure because of excessive drinking. What is fact and what is fiction here is yet to be proven but it was a lot of negative publicity for one person to bare. Pictures of Kate in 1992 showed her as a very thin woman and some say she was thinner than her bag she carried when the pictures of her were taken in public. There have been some very hurtful comments made about Kate. These comments are just one example of what they can do to a person to cause them to do something they would not normally do. They can cause a person to be depressed and ill. Anorexia is caused by several different factors and peer pressure is at the top of the list. Most people who suffer from anorexia and other eating disorders are between the ages of 10 and 20. There are some who suffer at an earlier age and some that are older but the average age is 17. Whether you are an adult or a teen, peer pressure and criticism can take its toll on a body. Teens want to ‘belong’ and sometimes they feel that in order for them to do that they have to lose weight and look better. They often have low self esteem and do not think they are worth anything and in order to feel better they go on a diet and do not stop. Even after they have lost enough weight, they continue because to themselves they still look fat. Eating disorders can play mind games with the victim. They can become anorexic and suffer severe health issues before they realize they have a problem and finally seek help. Sometimes the help comes too late and the victim dies.
