Casdiagnostico Anorexia Nervosa

Casdiagnostico Anorexia Nervosa is more popular today than ever before. The eating disorder was first described back in 1684 and was described and diagnosed as a ‘new’ disease in 1870 but there was not much scientific study done on the disease. It wasn’t until the 1970's and 1980's that the study of anorexia and other eating disorders actually began. It was discovered that the disorders were more popular than scientists thought and that there was a need for the studies. It was not until after the death of Karen Carpenter (a famous singer in the 70's and 80's) in 1983. Karen was suffering from anorexia for a long time and finally got treatment. It was thought by many that she had beaten the disease when she died suddenly of a heart attack. The damage to her body was just too great and her heart was too weak. It was about this time that scientists realized that anorexia and other eating disorders were fast becoming a real health problem. Today there have been more than 8 million diagnosed cases of anorexia and other eating disorders. Over one million of those are male with the remaining 7 million being female. The majority of diagnosed cases are between the ages of 10 and 20 and the average age is 17. There are a few rare cases of children under 10 years of age and there are adult cases diagnosed also. There are some in their seventies who also suffer from anorexia, not because of the need to lose weight but just because they suffer from illnesses, the loss of a loved one, or just lack of appetite. The most deaths recorded are males over seventy years old.

Anorexic victims often try to hide their condition under baggy or layered clothing. The problem can go undetected by others until the victim begins to suffer from health issues that require medical treatment and they can’t hide it. Often there is damage done to vital organs of the body before the victim seeks help and in some cases the damage may not be completely reversed with treatment. That is why it is so vital to get the victim to seek help before the damage gets too severe. The treatment will be a long drawn out affair and it will consist of both medications and psychological help. Today there is treatment centers across the country with qualified doctors who can give the proper treatment for the disease. There have been many people suffer from this disease and everyone should be aware of the signs and symptoms so they can get help for those close to them before the damage gets so severe it can not be reversed or the victim dies from it.
