Pictures Of Anorexia Nervosa There are many cases and pictures of people suffering or some who died from anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder which most commonly strikes the girls but boys have been known to suffer from it too. It can happen at any age but the majority of anorexic people are between the ages of 10 and 20 years of age. There are over 8 million reports of diagnosed anorexic people in the United States alone and one report says at least 1 million of them are men. Another report says that one in every 6 people diagnosed with anorexia nervosa are men or boys. There are some cases reported in boys and girls under ten years of age and some over 20 years of age. Even older seniors can become anorexic. You can find pictures and more information all over the internet but one very good site with many links about anorexia is found at www.toprateproduct.net/anorexia/sitemap.php. You can find individual stories and pictures of some very famous people who have suffered from anorexia and other eating disorders and some of them have died from the disorders. Some have committed suicide or their body was so damaged that it could not be repaired with treatment. Some of the famous people who have suffered from anorexia are Karen Carpenter (well known singer in the 70's and 80's who died from anorexia), Daniel Johns (singer in the band ‘Silverchair’). Daniel contemplated suicide and it took a long time for him to recover from anorexia. Super model Kate Moss was maybe another victim of anorexia although she claims that she is not anorexic. And the list goes on. You can do some research and find many case stories of anorexic people. Many times a person who is anorexic does not admit that they need help until some damage has already been done to the body. They do not believe they have a problem until sometimes it is too late to get help. Anorexia can damage every vital organ in the body and much of the damage is irreparable. Anorexia can cause major damage to the heart, brain, liver, kidneys, and other parts of the body. People who are suffering from anorexia see themselves as fat so they continue their routine of not eating, eating very little, purging, excessive exercise, and other methods they think of to lose weight. Our society is largely at fault for the many cases of anorexia and other eating disorders. Many young people think they have to be thin to belong to a specific group or to land a certain job. Many times this is not the case. It is one thing to diet and lose a little weight but it is another to lose the weight you originally plan to lose , then keep losing because your brain is telling you that you are still fat or overweight. That is what you see in the mirror because that is what your brain tells you to see. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
