Pictures of Anorexia People

There are many pictures of people who have suffered from anorexia in the past. You can find these pictures in books and online by doing a search on one of the search engines. There are many websites with pictures, graphs, charts, information, testimonials, and stories about some who have suffered, and some died or committed suicide, from anorexia. If you do not have a strong stomach, you might not want to see some of the pictures because it can make you ill just looking at the pictures. It is so hard to believe that there are undernourished people in these western countries that have progressed so far ahead of many other countries. Plus the main cause of the eating disorders are because of the culture and the pressure that has been put on people. Many people who have a low self esteem, stress or peer pressure feel that they have to look like the ‘skinny’ figures we see in magazines, on television, on billboards, and yes, even on the side of some buses in large cities. Being thin has been a part of society since back in 1684 when anorexia was first described, but it wasn’t until 1870 that the disease was actually described and diagnosed as a real disease. Seeing the pictures of some of the victims will break your heart. There needs to be more education on anorexia and eating disorders in the younger generation as well as adults so everyone is aware of the damage it can do. Children need to know what anorexia can do to them because the majority of anorexic people are between the ages of 10 and 20. But the adults need to know the signs and symptoms too so they can help their kids or friends who might be suffering from the disease.

There have been some famous celebrities who have either died or suffered from anorexia and required treatment. Karen Carpenter was a famous singer back in the 70's and 80's with her brother Richard. Karen considered herself heavy in her teen years so she began to lose weight and got down to 80 pounds before she collapsed on stage. It was then that she admitted to having a problem and began treatment for her anorexia. She had a long term treatment and was gaining her weight back slowly and it was believed by some that she had beaten the disease when in 1983 Karen died of a sudden heart attack. There had been too much damage done and her heart was not strong enough to handle it. Mary Kate Olsen, one of the famous Olsen twins checked herself into a treatment center in 2004 after she finally admitted to having an eating disorder. The list goes on and on. You can do a search and find others who have died, committed suicide or have survived anorexia.
