Pictures of Women With Anorexia You can find pictures of women who have suffered with anorexia on the internet. You can do a search on one of the popular search engines and find a lot of information, pictures, graphs, charts, stories and testimonials from some who have suffered from the disease. Pictures of women and men that are anorexic can be very heartbreaking to look at. Just the thought of people in this country suffering at the hands of society and peer pressure is sad indeed. Some people believe if they can make someone look bad by making fun of them or teasing them, it will make them look better in the eyes of their peers but the sad thing is they are hurting the victims more than they might realize. People have feelings no matter who they are or where they are from and some are very vulnerable because they have such a low self esteem. Some anorexic victims have died because the damage to the body was just too much of a strain on the body. There are over 8 million people who have been diagnosed with anorexia or some other eating disorder. Of the eight million, over 1 million are male. This may surprise some who thought the disease only affected females. Another report states that 1 in every 6 people who suffer from anorexia are male. The majority of people with eating disorders are between the ages of 10 and 20 with the average being 17. There are some diagnosed younger than 10 and some older than 20. There are even senior citizens who suffer from eating disorders and most of those are male. It is also reported that the majority of deaths caused from anorexia are senior citizens over 70 years old. This is because it is not diagnosed in time to help the victims. Some of the signs and symptoms of anorexia are thinness, abnormal blood count, refusal to eat, making excuses not to eat, lack of emotion, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, brittle nails, thinning, breaking, or falling out of hair, soft hair covering the body, dry skin, constipation, dehydration, osteoporosis, low blood pressure, irregular blood pressure, cessation of menstruation (in females, decrease in testosterone (in males), trouble concentrating, wearing baggy or layers of clothing to hide the signs, anemia, mitral valve prolapse, abnormal heart rhythm, heart failure, lung problems (much like emphysema), gastrointestinal problems such as bloating or nausea, electrolyte abnormalities such as low blood potassium, sodium, or chloride, kidney problems, liver damage, and more. Anorexia damages all of the vital organs in the body and some of the damage can not be repaired. The condition needs to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible to prevent as much damage as possible. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
