Act of Depression

The act of depression can get very severe if not diagnosed and treated. Many people suffer from depression and many of them do not seek the help they need to get through it. If you have a form of depression, you are not alone. About 16% of Americans suffer from some form of depression or another. There are several forms of depression and there is medications and /or therapy to help make the patients life easier. Why suffer and make those around you suffer when it is not necessary? If you just have a mild case of depression, you can be back to your own self in no time if you get the help you need from a doctor. The doctor can diagnose the depression type and prescribe the right medication for the symptoms you are experiencing. If you do not get help, your depression can become severe and dangerous to you and to those around you. With the right treatment your depression can be controlled.

Some of the types of depression are bipolar (highs and lows or depression and hyperactivity), Anxiety Disorder, Postpartum Depression or Peripartum Depression, manic Depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder, and Dysthymia. There are some forms of depression that last only for a period of time and others for a lifetime. There are some which only last a matter of days or weeks and might reoccur. Only a professional doctor can determine if in fact you have a form of depression by running a few tests and asking questions. Work with your doctor and tell them everything they need to know.

If you are experiencing anxiety, restlessness, lack of interest in things you usually enjoy, sleep disorder ( lack of sleep or sleeping too much), rapid weight loss or gain (five pounds or more in a week), eating disorder (loss of appetite or eating more than usual), cannot concentrate or make decisions, low self-esteem, rage, anger, thoughts of death or suicide, headaches, stomachaches, and more. If you experience one or more of these symptoms it is suggested that you seek help from your doctor as soon as possible. Life is too short to be having these kinds of problems so get the help you need and begin treatment with the guidance of your doctor.

There are many medications, name brand and generic, for depression and there are also alternative medicines available which can help. There is also therapy which is sometimes suggested by the doctor. The therapy and the medications work hand in hand to get you back on your feet. There are also support groups you can join so you can share your feelings and know that you are not alone. Others are experiencing the same things you are and it is not your fault that you feel the way you do. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and the medications can help you get balance back into your life.
