Anti Depression Anyone can develop depression and there are many anti depressant medications as well as psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy available. Sometimes treatment requires more than one of these remedies for someone who has depression. It depends on the severity and type of the depression as to the treatment required and to the length of time it will take to get rid of the depression. The important thing is that the person who has depression, of any form, get the help they need so they can be on their way back to recovery as soon as possible. The sooner they realize they have a problem and seek help, the less severe the depression will be and the quicker they can get back to their ordinary lives. It depression is ignored and gets severe, it involves everyone around the one with depression. There are different forms of depression and the cause of it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. There is nothing you have done to cause it. When other events happen in your life like childbirth, menopause, stress, and other events, the chemical imbalance causes your body to do things you would not ordinarily do. Depression is treatable and with the proper medications and/or therapy. If you have signs of depression you might want to consult your doctor as soon as possible if it is what your problem is. Symptoms of depression are sleep disorders (lack of or too much sleep), appetite disorder (lack appetite or overeating), mood swings, trouble thinking or concentrating, thinking the worst about everything, overly cautious, startle easily, feelings of impending dangers, and possibly other symptoms. If you or someone you know are having one or more of these symptoms, it might be a good idea to visit your doctor and discuss it with them. They can diagnose depression after running a few tests and asking some questions. They can diagnose and offer treatment to begin right away if indeed depression of any form is present. There are many depression medications available for the many forms of depression. Your doctor may have to have you try several before the right one for you is determined. Different people react differently to different medications. Sometimes therapy is suggested along with medications. Sometimes the medications alone or the therapy alone will not work for some. Some of the different forms of depression is bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder, postpartum depression, dysthymia disorder, and major depressive disorder. Some of the medications used for depression are: Nortriptyline, Parnate, Paxil, Pozac, Serzone, Doxepin, Surmontin, Tofranil, Vivactil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and others. The doctor will have to determine which one is best suited for your needs. You may have side effects from some so others will be better suited for you. Make sure you keep your doctor informed of any side effects or problems related to the medications they prescribe for you. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
