Depression Chat If you are looking for others who are suffering from depression too, you might want to join a depression chat room or a forum that is geared toward depression. Most, if not all, of the members have been diagnosed with depression and are working through it day by day with the use of these forums and chat rooms. The first thing you should do if you feel you are suffering from some form of depression is seek the help of your doctor. After they have made a diagnosis, they can prescribe the right medication for the type of depression you have and the symptoms you are suffering from. There are many name brand, generic, and alternative medicines for depression and some medications do not work for some but will for others and visa versa. It may take a trial period of trying out different medications before the doctor finds the right one that will work for you. If you prefer alternative medications, tell your doctor about it. Many people prefer natural alternative medications as opposed to synthetic, manmade drugs. There are some good alternatives which can aid in your control of depression. The alternatives are Passion Flower, Kava Kava, St. John’s Wort, Clarocet, Valarian Root, and Hyperforin. There are many name brand and generic medications such as Zoloft, Doxopin, Luvox, Adapin, Anafranil, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Prozac, and many many more. What works for you may not work for others. There are also different types of therapy that may be recommended by your doctor. Therapy has improved in the past few years. There is now Hypnotherapy for those who cannot take medications because of a serious illness or for other reasons, and there is group therapy and one on one therapy with the doctors. There is the latest therapy known as cognitive therapy which consists of eight sessions of group therapy which teach you how to cope with your depression and control it by replacing negative feelings and thoughts with positive ones. It also helps to prevent future occurrences of depression. This is really working very well and will be used more in the future. Some of the depression based chat rooms and forums are below. Remember that you can get a lot of questions answered here and it will make you feel better from the support you will get from members who are suffering from depression too. You can help and support them and in return, you will get support from them. These types of chat rooms and forums usually give you a warm family oriented feeling. There are some very supportive people on the internet. They are not all bad so if you feel uneasy about joining, in a lot of cases, you can go in and just read the posts or listen to the conversations and only join in when you feel comfortable with it. It can be overwhemling at first but you can soon fit right in. Just be yourself and relax. Others like to see the real person in you, not a fake so just be yourself and you will be fine.
