Depression is nothing to be ashamed of and you are not the only one suffering from it as you can see if you join one of the chat rooms or forums. There is help out there and all you have to do is contact your doctor and get some treatment started. It is believed that depression is caused from a chemical imbalance in the brain and different happenings or events in one’s life can cause the onset of depression. Things like the loss of a loved one, puberty, childbirth, menopause, and other major events and changes in one’s life. Some researchers believe the different changes in hormones in women are the cause of many depression onsets. It is also thought that the chemical imbalance in the brain of some can possibly be passed down from generation to generation. Depression can be caused from one or more major events in one’s life and you may have symptoms a while before you realize that there is a something wrong. Depression also affects everyone around you so the sooner you get help, the better it will be for everyone concerned. Along with medication and therapy, there are ‘self help’ things you can do to help get you through your depression. Try to be optimistic and do not put yourself down. Try to go for a walk or go shopping, anything to get you out of the house for a while each day and be among other people, doing things you enjoy doing. Try to join a support group because it can make a big difference in your life. Others suffering from the same thing you are can help you and you can help them. It is a good feeling being able to help others so you can help yourself by helping others. Learn all you can about the type of depression you are suffering from and try to turn every negative into a positive. You would be surprised how much this can help you.
