Major Depression Symptom

If you are suffering from a symptom of major depression, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible so they can diagnose your problem and prescribe the right medication and/or therapy for you. There are over twenty five million adults suffering from depression of some form and over eight million children. The statistics show that the number of people suffering with depression is twice the amount that it was fifteen years ago. There are many medications and different types of therapy for depression today so there is no reason that anyone should have to continue suffering from it. The doctor can run a few tests and discuss your symptoms and feelings and then decide which treatment would be best for you. There are many people who are not even aware that they have depression. They know they are feeling down or lousy but do not know what the problem is and refuse to see a doctor to get a proper diagnose.

There are many who are suffering from a mild form of depression but it can escalate if the proper treatment is not prescribed and taken. For some only therapy is needed, but for others therapy and medications both may be necessary. This depends on the severity of the depression. There are also many things you can do for yourself to help get you through your depression and make it easier for you. There are depression support groups that you can join or you can go online and join some of the chat rooms and forums that are geared for people who are suffering from depression. The members there will support you and you can support them. They are going through some of the same symptoms that you are and they can relate to your problems. You do not have to be alone with your depression and you should not spend much time alone. Take time to take a walk each day or go shopping or something just to get out and be around other people. Talk to your family about your feelings and your symptoms so they can understand you better and help you out at home more.

Some of the symptoms of depression are sadness, restlessness, sleep disorder( trouble sleeping or sleeping too much), appetite disorder )eating more or less than usual), sudden weight loss or gain (five or more pounds in less than two weeks), trouble concentrating or making decisions, hopelessness, irritability, low self esteem, and thoughts of suicide or death. If you have one or more of the symptoms, you should contact your doctor so you can get treatment right away. Getting over your depression will take a while so be patient and do as much as you can to help yourself.
