Natural Cure For Depression

Those who are suffering from depression may want to look for a natural cure for depression. There are several different types of therapy available and there is natural alternative medications. Some feel that yoga is a very good treatment for depression. There is cognitive therapy which is fairly new but seems to be working very well in helping people control their depression and also it will help them learn how to replace negative thoughts or things in their lives with positive ones. Cognitive therapy is a type of group therapy which is being used more every day by more doctors. There are many medications or anti depressants for depression but so many of them cause side effects, some of them severe. Natural alternative medications include Kava Kava, clarocet (alternative medication for children ages 7 to 13 to help them feel better), Valerian Root (for stress and anxiety), Passion Flower (sedative and mood stabilizer), St. John’s Wort, and Hyperforin. Many people prefer alternative medications because they cause less side effects if any at all.

There is no cure for depression, just a way to control it and now through cognitive therapy, a way to prevent it from reoccurring. Depression is thought to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and different major events in one’s life brings on the onset of depression. There are more than one type of depression and many symptoms possible. Some of the types of depression are postpartum or peripartum depression (after childbirth), seasonal affective disorder ( happens after a specific season change), bipolar (severe ups and downs in mood, can change quickly), and Dsythymia (mood disorder).

Some of the symptoms for depression are: sadness, restlessness, hopelessness, low selfesteem, tired a lot, eating disorder (eating less or more than usual), sleeping disorder (trouble sleeping or sleeping too much), severe weight loss or gain (at least five pounds or more in a two week period), inability to make decisions or concentrate, tension, irritability, and thoughts of death or suicide. If you are experiencing any one or more of these symptoms, you should seek the help of a professional so you can start treatment to control your depression. There are ways to ‘self help’ yourself fight your depression along with therapy or medications prescribed by your doctor. Find out all you can about your depression. Do not spend a lot of time alone. Take a walk or go shopping just to get out once in a while. If all of the work at home doesn’t get done, do not worry about it. Ask family members to help out or hire someone to come in for a few hours each day and help out. Join a therapy group so you can hear about others who are suffering the same way you are and hear how they are coping with it. You can learn from them and they can learn from you. Join an online chat room or forum which is geared to depression. Members there share their feelings and thoughts so they can give each other support.
