Physical Symptom of Depression If you are having a physical symptom or more, it would be a wise thing to seek professional help. Your doctor can test you for depression, diagnose the type of depression and prescribe the medication for the symptoms you are having with your depression . Since the same symptoms can be caused by other physical illnesses, the doctor will have to do a few tests to find out if indeed you are suffering from some form of depression or if it is from something else. Sometimes a simple blood test can determine if you are suffering from depression. Tell the doctor all of the symptoms you are experiencing because it will determine the medications they will prescribe for you. There are many prescription medications for different forms of depression and different symptoms so you want to make sure you get what will work for you. Some medications work for some but not for others and some have side effects and others experience none at all so it is important to find the one that will not cause you side effects and will help your depression too. It may take up to four weeks sometimes before the medications will show any results. Many people suffer from depression and do not even know it. They may experience some symptoms but just brush them off as just a phase they are going through. There are some who suffer from mild or short term depression and others who suffer from a more severe form of depression. There are more women who experience bouts depression than do men. Women are more likely to talk about their symptoms and seek professional help than men. Men are more likely to try to hide their depression in a bottle of alcohol or drugs and is more likely to think about suicide or death. Depression can be helped but the one who is suffering from it has to seek the help of a professional doctor or councilor. Some of the symptoms of depression are, restless feeling, fidgety, wringing of hands, shifting around in seat, unable to stay seated and move around a lot, take a while to respond to questions and thinking slower, lack of energy to carry out normal duties you usually do in your daily routine, have to force yourself to do the regular chores you do like shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc., cannot concentrate or make decisions as you usually do, rapid weight gain or loss (5 lbs.
