Woman and Depression If you are a woman and think you might be suffering from some type of depression, the best thing for you to do is to seek the help of your doctor. Talk to them and let them know what feelings you are having and with a few tests, the doctor can diagnose your problem and if depression is in fact the malady, the doctor can prescribe the right treatment for you and get you started back to your normal self. It will not happen overnight but at least you have made the first move. By keeping in contact with your doctor and letting them know of any changes or side effects from any medications prescribed, the medications can be changed until the right one that works for you is prescribed. Since different medications work for some, but not for others, it may take a trial of a few before you get the right one. There are many name brand, generic, and alternative medications for different symptoms and different types of depression. The doctor can best decide which ones will help you the most. If you prefer the alternative medications, ask the doctor about them. Many doctors are turning more to the alternative medicines because they work and because there is much less chance of negative side effects. Many women who suffer from depression ignore the symptoms or try to work through their illness by themselves. There is help to control your depression so it should not be left to you alone to do it by yourself. In a lot of cases, it gets worse instead of better so the sooner you ask for help, the quicker you can get back to your normal way of life. There are support groups which can help too. You are not the only one suffering from depression and it is nothing to be ashamed of so talk to others who are suffering from depression and you can help each other. There are many forums on the internet that are geared toward depression discussions and the members are people who are suffering day by day with depression. They are supporting each other and trying to get on with their lives with the medications their doctors have prescribed for them and the help from their fellow depression friends. There are different forms of depression and many medications , and/or therapy to help so do not try to get through it alone. The symptoms of depression can be very dangerous for yourself and for those around you so the sooner you seek help, the better life can be for everyone concerned. Do not be afraid to talk to your family about your feelings and ask for help with household chores so you do not feel so overwhelmed when they do not get done. They can be done another time. Get help to come in for a few hours every day or so if necessary. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
