Atlanta Ephedra Lawyers There are lawyers in Atlanta which will handle Ephedra cases and there may already have been some who have had cases for people against ephedra products. There are lawyers in every state who handle cases like this and there are many people who have filed cases against companies who sold them products which contained ephedra and the people suffered from serious health problems from the products. There are many who have already been compensated for their injuries. If you suffered a serious illness from taking a product that contained ephedra contact your doctor as soon as possible. You can also find a good lawyer in your area who handles this type of case and you can be compensated for your injuries too. There were many side effects reported to the FDA which led to the banning of ephedra in the United States in 2003 and again in 2006. Some of the serious side effects reported were heart attacks, strokes, insomnia, high blood pressure, rapid heart beats, irregular heart beat, nervousness, tremors, seizures, and death. There has been over 1,000 reports made to the FDA of people who were hospitalized and at least 17 deaths since 1997 because of serious illnesses caused from products containing ephedra. The FDA got the courts to ban ephedra in 2003 but there were some people who filed a petition to get the ban lifted. So the courts decided that the FDA did not have enough evidence to prove that ephedra, when used in small amounts, was not dangerous to the public. The ban was lifted in 2005 but the products were to only contain no more than 10 mg. of ephedra. The FDA continued to collect data and evidence and people continued to have heart attacks and strokes even when they took small doses of ephedra. Some of these cases were the result of the person taking as little as 8 mg. of ephedra. The FDA checked some of the products which supposedly contained a certain amount of ephedra (stated on the labels of the products) and found that they contained more or less ephedra than was stated on the label. In some cases there was no ephedra at all in the products. The FDA took their evidence back to court and in 2006 ephedra was banned again. Ephedra is a stimulant taken from the ephedra shrub or made synthetically and both are dangerous to your health. The Chinese have used ephedra for over 5,000 years as a medication for the lungs. The Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons have also used ephedra for years for medicinal purposes. Other names for ephedra are Mormon tea, Chinese Ephedra, Ma Huang, Squaw Tea, and Eoitonin.
