Buy Real Ephedra If you live in the US it might be hard for you to buy real ephedra now because ephedra was banned and is not allowed to be bought or sold in the United States. There were two types of ephedra, the ephedra which came from the ephedra plant (which is also known as Mormons Tea, Squaw Tea, Herbal Ecstasy, Chinese Ephedra, Ma Huang, and Epitonin) and the synthetic type. There are four members of the ephedrine family and they are found in arid regions around the world. The real ephedra was used by the Chinese for over 5,000 years as a medicine for the lungs. It was also used for medicinal purposes by the Mormons, Native Americans, and Mexicans for many years. In the recent years ephedra was used for weight loss, as an energy booster, and as a sports performance booster. Ephedra was banned twice in the United States. The first time was in 2003 after the Food and Drug Administration had received over 800 reports of people experiencing heart attacks, strokes and even some deaths while using ephedra products. Other side effects experienced were irregular heart beat, rapid heart beat, high blood pressure, tremors, nervousness, and seizures. There were some people who did not believe the ephedra was dangerous so they filed a petition with the court to get the ban on ephedra lifted. In 2005 the ban was lifted because the court decided the FDA did not have enough proof that ephedra was dangerous if used in small amounts of less than 10 mg. So the FDA continued to gather evidence and reports kept coming in of people suffering from strokes and heart attacks while taking products which contained as little as 8 mg. of ephedra. There had been over 1,000 cases of people hospitalized and at least 17 deaths from 1997 to 2006 from the use of ephedra products. The FDA also tested some of the products which had labels that stated the amounts of ephedra in the products. They found that some of them had either more or less Ephedra than was stated on the labels and some contained none at all. The FDA took their evidence to the court and ephedra was banned for a second time in late 2006. Many of the products which contained Ephedra have now replaced the ephedra with other ingredients which are much safer to use. Ephedra can cause death or can be life threatening if used with aspirin (willow bark, salicytes, or salicylic acid) or caffeine (guarana, kola nut, or cocoa extract). If you or a family member has suffered from a serious health problem or death, there might be a chance to be compensated for the suffering. Contact a good lawyer in your state which can handle cases such as this. Many people have already been compensated for their injuries fron the use of ephedra. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
