Ephedra Based Weight Loss Products There were many ephedra based weight loss products before ephedra was banned in the United States in 2003 and again in 2006. Some of the products which contained ephedra but are now ephedra free are Diet Fuel, Energy Fuel, Everslender, Metabolift and Ripped Fuel made by Twin Lab Diet Products. Others are metabolite, Metabolife, Trimspa, Zantrex, Stacker 2, Stacker 3, Stacker Lite, Phentramin, Xelerate, hydroxycut, lipodrene, and many more. If you want to find ephedra, you will have to look outside of the United States. Ephedra has been proven to be very dangerous for some to use. It has caused serious health issues for some and also death for some. There were at least 1,000 reports of hospital emergencies and at least 17 deaths from 1997 to 2006 reported to the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA got ephedra banned in 2003 but some people felt that it was not as dangerous as the FDA stated so they filed a petition with the court in 2004 to get the ban lifted on ephedra and in 2005 the court agreed with them and lifted the ban stating that the FDA did not have enough evidence to prove that ephedra was dangerous if used in doses of less than 10 mg. The FDA continued receiving reports of people having strokes and heart attacks from using as little as 8 mg of ephedra. The FDA had some products containing ephedra tested for their amount of ephedra and found that some of them contained more and some contained less ephedra per dose than was stated on the labels of the bottles. The FDA took all of their gathered information and reports and took it back to court. This time ephedra was banned for the second time in 2006. The FDA showed the court that even when used in small doses, ephedra caused serious health problems. Many people have received compensation for their illnesses caused by products containing ephedra. Many more have filed lawsuits and are waiting for their day in court. If you have suffered a serious illness from a product which contains ephedra or have lost a family member who used an ephedra based product you may be entitled to compensation. You should find a good lawyer in your area who handles cases of this type and discuss it with them to see if you might have a case. Some lawyers will give you a free first time consultation. There is a statute of limitations on these type of cases so do not wait too long. Some people have received a very nice compensation and you may be entitled to some too.
