Ephedra P57

P57 (Hoodia Gordonii) has replaced ephedra in some products that used to contain ephedra. The FDA banned ephedra in the United States late in 2006 so companies are replacing their ephedra with other products which will work just as well but are much safer to use. P57 does not have any side effects and can work alone with no other ingredients as a weight loss product. There is a great demand for Hoodia Gordonii because it was lab tested and in every case study ( in both rats and humans) the subjects lost weight and some reported experiencing an energy boost from the Hoodia. Hoodia Gordonii comes from a natural succulent cactus like herb which is found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. It has been used by the SANS tribesmen for over 25,000 years for medicinal purposes and for a food and water substitute while on hunting trips in the desert. Food and water are scarce in the desert so the tribesmen would chew or eat the stems of the Hoodia plant and they could go for days without food or water. The Hoodia plant is being protected by the African Government so there are farms which are growing harvesting the Hoodia so there will be enough for the demand and the Hoodia in the desert will be preserved.

Ephedra was banned for the second time in late 2006 after the Food and Drug Administration received over 1,000 reports of serious injuries and at least 17 deaths since 1997 from the use of ephedra products. Even in small amounts the ephedra was causing heart attacks and strokes in some users. Ephedra was banned the first time in 2003 after the FDA received over 800 reports of serious health problems and some deaths from1994 to 2003. The court overturned the first ban after some people filed a petition to have the ban lifted and the court decided there was not enough evidence to prove that ephedra was dangerous in small amounts of less than 10 mg. The ban was lifted in 2005. The FDA continued to receive evidence that ephedra was still causing problems even in small doses so they filed their evidence with the court and the ephedra was banned again. There are other natural herbs which will work just as well as the ephedra but do not have the side effects. There are many people who suffered from heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, seizures, nervousness, tremors, rapid heart beat, irregular heartbeat, and death. Many people have filed lawsuits against the companies who they had bought the ephedra products and many have been compensated for their injuries caused by the ephedra. There are more lawsuits still pending and more people filing lawsuits. There is a statue of limitations on these types of lawsuits so if you feel that some ephedra product caused you to suffer from a serious health problem or a family member died because of ephedra, you may be entitled to compensation.
