Fast Weight Loss Ephedrine Ephedra Losing Weight

Some people were losing weight fast with ephedrine weight loss pills from the ephedra plant until the FDA had ephedra banned in the United States. Ephedra boosted energy, burned fat and calories and stimulated thermogenesis. The only problem was that it was causing serious health problems for many who used it. There were heart attacks, strokes, irregular heart beat, rapid heart beat, high blood pressure, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, psychosis, hives, anxiety, tremors, itching, allergies, and even death. There may be more side effects not listed here. The fact is that some who experienced serious side effects were only taking small amounts of ephedra as little as 8 mg. The FDA had some of the products tested that were labeled with ephedra as one of their ingredients. Their results were that some of the products contained more and some less ephedra than was stated on the labels. There were some that contained no ephedra at all although it was listed on the labels. Many of the products which once contained ephedra has been replaced with other natural herbs which aid in weight loss or other medical aids. There are some very good alternatives that are much safer to use and will work as well as ephedra did.

Hoodia Gordonii is one of the weight loss ingredients which has taken the place of ephedra in some weight loss products. Hoodia Gordonii is a much sought after weight loss ingredient that can work alone as a weight loss aid. Hoodia comes from the succulent cactus like hoodia plant which is found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Hoodia has been used for over 25,000 years by the SANS tribes as a food and water supplement while on long hunting trips into the desert. They would eat the hoodia stems and could go for days without food or water. They also used the hoodia plant for medicinal purposes but there has not been any scientific study on the medicinal properties in hoodia. Every case study tested, both rats and humans, lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time. Some people even reported an increase in energy from the hoodia. There was no special diets or exercise during these studies.

Ephedra has been used by the Chinese, Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons for many years for medicinal purposes. Ephedra is also known as Herbal Ecstasy, Ma Huang, Chinese Ephedra, Mormon Tea, Squaw Tea, Desert tea, and Epitonin. It can be lethal or life threatening to use ephedra with aspirin (willow bark, salicytes, salicylic acid) or caffeine (kola nut, guarana, cocoa extract) and some products did contain one or both of these along with ephedra.
