Megadrine 20 mg Ephedra Megadrine containes 20 mg of ephedra but was discontinued. Ephedra was banned in the United states because of the serious health issues people were suffering from when using products which contained ephedra. It has also been established that ephedra should not be taken with aspirin or caffeine because it was lethal or in the least life threatening and Megadrine contained aspirin and caffeine both. It contained willow bark and 200 mg of guarana. It had a powerful blend of ingredients to increase metabolism and to burn fat. Information from other reports indicates that this was a deadly combination. The Food and Drug Administration received reports of people using ephedra products were suffering from heart attacks, strokes and even death. From 1994 until 2003 there were over 800 reports of people who had suffered some health issue from the use of ephedra. The FDA had ephedra banned. There were some who felt that ephedra was not dangerous so they got a petition together and filed it with the court to get the ban lifted on the ephedra. The court agreed to lift the ban on ephedra. They felt that the FDA did not have enough evidence to prove that ephedra was dangerous if used in small doses of less than 10 mg. The FDA continued receiving reports about people having heart attacks and strokes even while using small doses as small as 8 mg. of ephedra. The FDA had some of the products containing ephedra and found that some of them had more ephedra than was listed on the label and some had less. Some products had no ephedra at all. There were over 1,000 reports of people hospitalized and at least 17 deaths from the use of ephedra from 1997 until 2006. The FDA took the evidence they had found and the reports and filed them in court. Ephedra was banned for the second time in late 2006. Other side effects reported from the use of ephedra was insomnia, nausea, vomiting, rapid heart beat, irregular heart beat, high blood pressure, nervousness, tremors, allergies, anxiety, itching, hives, psychosis, plus not listed here. Ephedra has been used for many years by the Chinese, Mormons, Native Americans, and Mexicans for medicinal purposes. It has been used for weight loss, as an energy booster, as a sports performance booster, to treat asthma, congestion of the bronchial tubes and lungs, cough, common cold, sinus congestion, and other uses. There have been many people who have been compensated for their illness caused by the ephedra and many more have filed lawsuits and are waiting for their day in court. If you have suffered from the use of ephedra and the statute of limitations has not run out, find a good lawyer in your area to discuss it with. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
