Stimerex With Ephedra Stimerex with ephedra also contains green tea, caffeine and other fat burners and energizers to make it what some say was America’s strongest energizer. While it is still found on the internet, it is not known if it can still be purchased since the ephedra ban in the United States in 2006. There were too many reports of serious health issues associated with products which contained ephedra. One problem is that aspirin (willow bark, salicytes, salicylic acid) and caffeine (guarana, kola nut, cocoa extract) do not mix well with ephedra and can become a deadly combination for some. To say the least it can be life threatening and many products contained one or both as well as ephedra. People were experiencing heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, irregular heart beat, rapid heart beat, anxiety, seizures, nervousness, tremors, insomnia, allergies, hives, itching, nausea, vomiting, and more. The numbers were just too large to just ignore the danger of ephedra. It was also dangerous for people who already had heart problems, high blood pressure and other health issues to take any product containing ephedra. Those who were taking certain medications should not use ephedra. The Food and Drug Administration received over 800 reports of serious illnesses and some deaths cause by products containing ephedra from 1994 until 2003 when they got ephedra banned for the first time. Some people did not believe ephedra was that dangerous so they filed a petition with the court in 2004 and in 2005 the court agreed with them and lifted the ban. The court did not believe the FDA had enough evidence to ban ephedra. The FDA continued to receive reports and they had some ephedra products tested for ephedra content in each dose. The amounts did not match what was stated on the labels of the products. Some contained more and some less than was on the labels. Some contained no ephedra at all. Over 1,000 reports of hospital emergencies as well as at least 17 deaths related to products which contained ephedra was reported to the FDA from 1997 until 2006. The FDA filed all of their reports and evidence with the Federal court and got ephedra banned for a second time in 2006. Many of the products which once contained ephedra have not replaced the ephedra with other ingredients that are far less dangerous. Ephedra has been used by the Chinese for over 5,000 years and for many years by the Mormons, Native Americans, and Mexicans. There must have been some dangers with ephedra along the way but evidently were not ever reported. Hopefully all of the ephedra will soon be taken off of the market.
