Twinlab Diet Fuel With Ephedra Twinlab made Diet Fuel with ephedra before ephedra was banned late in 2006 but now all of their products are ephedra free. Their products have replaced ephedra with other, more safe, ingredients. Some of the other diet products Twinlab manufactures are Energy Fuel, Everslender, Metabolift, and Ripped Fuel. Some of these have energy boosters as well and aid in weight loss. Twinlab is one of many companies who have had to replace ephedra with another ingredient because of the ban of ephedra. Ephedra was used for asthma, bronchial tube congestion, common colds, weight loss, energy booster, and an a sports performance enhancer. Some other products which contained ephedra before the ban was Trimspa, Stacker, Metabolife, Metabolite, Shape-Fast Plus, Xenadrine, Ultimate Orange, and Ripped Force. There are many other products which contained ephedra. Most of them have replaced their products with other ingredients and some may have stopped making some of the ephedra based products. The Food and Drug Administration felt the need to ban ephedra was crucial because there were too many reports of serious illnesses and even death caused by products that contained even small amounts (as little as 8 mg.) of ephedra. There have been over 1,000 reports of people being hospitalized because of serious health issues related to ephedra and at least 17 deaths since 1997. In 2003 when the ephedra was first banned there had been at least 800 reports of serious illnesses related to ephedra use since 1994. In 2005 the ban was lifted because some people filed a petition to get ephedra back on the market. The ban was lifted because the courts did not feel that the FDA had enough evidence to ban ephedra completely. Ephedra was allowed back on the market but only in doses of 10 mg. or less in each dose. Some of the ephedra products were tested and found to contain more or less and in some cases none of the ephedra that was stated on the labels of the bottles. People were still getting ill with the small amounts of ephedra so the FDA gathered enough evidence to have ephedra completely banned for the second time. There are other natural products which can do the same as ephedra but without the serious side effects so it would be wise to leave the ephedra products alone. They should all be off of the market in the United States. Most of the companies who had products which contained ephedra have replaced the ephedra with another ingredient. The side effects of ephedra are just too serious to ignore or take a chance with. Maybe some people can take it with no problems but others cannot and who is to say if it is safe for you or not. Ephedra is dangerous when taken with aspirin or caffeine. It can be fatal. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
