Twinlab Ripped Fuel with Ephedra

Twinlab product Ripped Fuel with ephedra no longer exists. Twin Lab Diet Products no longer contain ephedra since it was banned in the United States in late 2006. Other products produced by Twin Lab are Diet Fuel, Energy Fuel, Everslender, and Metabolift and they are all ephedra free.

Ephedra was proven by the Food and Drug Administration to be too dangerous to be used for medicinal purposes or for weight loss any more. There were just too many cases of seriously injured people who used products which contained ephedra to ignore the facts. Ephedra has been used for many years by the Chinese, Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons for medicinal purposes but there had to be people who suffered from it as well as some who benefitted from the use of it. It just was not all reported years ago or it was not known that ephedra could so many problems. The reported side effects from the use of products containing ephedra were insomnia, heart attacks, strokes, seizures, high blood pressure, rapid heart beat, irregular heartbeat, anxiety, nervousness, tremors, itching, hives, allergies, psychosis, nausea, vomiting, and death. There may be other side effects not listed here. Ephedra can be lethal or life threatening if taken with aspirin (willow bark, salicytes, salicylic acid) or caffeine (guarana, kola nut, cocoa extract) and some products contained one or both of these ingredients as well as the ephedra.

Ephedra is taken from the ephedra plant or is a synthetic which acts as a stimulant to increase metabolism and increases heartbeat and blood pressure. It is used as an energy booster, a sports performance booster, weight loss, asthma, congestion of the bronchial tubes or lungs, for fever, to stop sweating, sinus congestion, cough, common cold, and other medicinal purposes. It was found that in most cases people who suffered the most from taking ephedra were those who had just exercised or performed a strenuous task. The Food and Drug Administration collected over 1,000 reports of medical emergencies and at least 17 death reports from users of ephedra products from 1997 until 2006. They tested some of the products which contained ephedra and found that some of them contained more than was stated on the labels of the product and some contained less ephedra than was listed. There were some products tested that contained no ephedra at all but it was listed on the labels. It seemed that some companies felt that there was no need to stay at the limit the law allowed which was no more than 10 mg. per dose of ephedra. Many people have been compensated for their suffering and many more are filing for compensation.
