Weight Loss Pills With Ephedra Weight loss pills with ephedra are a thing of the past in the United States. Too many health issues were reported from products containing ephedra causing people serious injury or even death in some cases. After many reports and some testing of some products which contained ephedra the FDA got the Federal court to ban ephedra in the United States in 2006. There were over 1,000 reports of hospital emergencies and at least 17 deaths from 1997 and 2006. People reported heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, rapid heart beats, irregular heart beats, insomnia, anxiety, tremors, nervousness, allergies, nausea, vomiting, hives, itching, psychosis, death, and more. Some of the products tested did not contain the amount of ephedra that was stated on the labels. Some of them contained more ephedra than was listed and some contained less. Some of them contained no ephedra at all. Some of the weight loss pills that contained ephedra were Trimspa, Metabolife, MegaPro, MuscleTech, Natures Treat Energy Plus, Diet Fuel, Everslender, Metabolift, Matabolite, and Ripped Fuel. There were many more but these listed here and others now contain no ephedra. Ephedra has been replaced with another ingredient. In some cases the ingredient which took the place of ephedra was Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia is a diet herb which is in great demand. It will stand alone as a diet pill and does not have any side effects. Hoodia is a cactus like plant from the Kalahari desert in South Africa. It was used by the SANS tribesmen for over 25,000 years as a food and water supplement while on long hunting trips into the desert. They would eat the stems of the Hoodia plant and they could go for days without food or water. There is scientific proof that Hoodia aids in weight loss. It was tested on both humans and rats and every subject lost weight with the Hoodia. Some people even reported having extra energy from the Hoodia. Ephedra is a shrub also found in desert regions around the world. It is a shrub and the stems are dried to make a white powder to use in weight loss pills, energy boosters, as a sports performance booster and for medicinal purposes such as asthma, congestion of the sinuses, lungs, and bronchial tubes, for the common cold, cough, and other purposes. The ephedra has been used for many years by the Chinese, Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons. There are several different names for ephedra. They are Chinese Ephedra, Ma Huang, Epitonin, , herbal Ecstasy, Squaw Tea, Mormon Tea, and Desert Tea. Ephedra does not mix with aspirin or caffeine. It can be a deadly mix if used together and some products had all three ingredients in them. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
