Xenadrine With Ephedra Xenadrine with ephedra was just one of the many diet supplements which has replaced ephedra with another ingredient because ephedra was proven to be dangerous to your health. Other products included Metabolife, Metabolite, Metabolift, Diet Fuel, Everslender, Energy Fuel, Ripped Fuel, Trimspa, Hydroxycut, Stacker 2, Stacker 3, Stacker Lite, and many more. Some of these products are now ephedra free (some have been discontinued) and have a combination of ingredients which are much safer to use. Ephedra was banned by the Food and Drug Administration in 2003 and again in 2006 in the United States because of the many reports of serious health issues and even deaths caused by ephedra. There were over 800 reports of serious health issues and some deaths from 1994 until 2003. There were over 1,000 reported hospital emergencies and at least 17 deaths from 1997 until 2006. The side effects that were reported were heart attacks, rapid heart rates, irregular heart beats, high blood pressure, insomnia, anxiety, allergies, hives, itching, nausea, vomiting, psychosis, nervousness, tremors, death, and more. There are other alternative supplement herbs which work as well as ephedra but are far less dangerous. Hoodia Gordonii is one of the ingredients which took the place of ephedra in some products. Hoodia is one of the most sought after weight loss products on the market. Hoodia will stand alone as a weight loss pill. It does not need other ingredients to help you lose weight. It has been scientifically tested and in every case study the subject lost a substantial amount of weight. It was tested on both rats and humans. Some people claimed it also increased their energy. Ephedra weight loss products were used to increase energy and thermogenesis, and burn fat and calories so it would result in weight loss. The big problem was the increase in heart beat and high blood pressure as well as other problems. Ephedra comes from a succulent shrub which is located in desert regions around the world. It is also made synthetically. The shrub has been used for over 5,000 years by the Chinese and many years by the Native Americans, Mexicans, and Mormons. The stems of the shrub were dried and ground into a white powder. It was used for medicinal purposes such as lung congestion, bronchial tube congestion, sinus congestion, colds, coughs, fever, to stop sweating related to fever, asthma, weight loss, as an energy booster, as a sports performance booster, and other purposes. There are other names for ephedra. They are Chinese Ephedra, Ma Huang, Herbal Ecstasy, Epitonin, Squaw Tea, Desert Tea, and Mormon Tea. It was reported that the other forms of ephedra did not contain the same strength of ephedra as that found in China. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
