Cardinal Health Cardinal Health is a global healthcare company which has dedicated themselves to making healthcare safer and more productive for everyone. The main headquarters for the company is located in Dublin, Ohio. It serves the health care industry with products and services which helps hospitals and doctors offices and pharmacies reduce their costs so they can give their patients better health care. They manufacture medical and surgical products and is one of the largest worldwide. Some of the equipment they manufacture are Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis automatic dispensing systems, Medmined data mining software and Carefusion patient identifying system. Cardinal Health was founded in 1971 and was known as Cardinal Foods. Robert D, Walter was it’s founding father. It began as a food wholesaler and acquired the Baily Drug Company in 1979. They began wholesaling drugs as Cardinal Distribution, Inc. They were included in the NYSE in 1983. In 2006 it was rated as 19th on the Fortune 500 list and has more than 40,000 employees on five different continents. They have supply chain services, medical products, Alaris products, Pyxis Products, Pharmacy management, Nuclear Pharmacy Services, and Medicine Shoppe International. You can see from this that they are a vast business. It just makes one wonder that if they are here to help cut the costs of products and services to patients, why are the medical charges so outrageous and rising more everyday. The United States Government will stop utility and communications companies from over charging the individual but they let the medical field charge whatever they want to for their medications and their services. People who have health insurance get breaks because the doctors and hospitals charge less for those who are insured and more to those who are not insured. The cost of medical services should be equal for everyone but it isn’t and the government knows it but fails to do anything about it. There are millions of people who do not have health insurance because their place of employment does not offer health insurance to their employees and they cannot afford to get the health insurance individually. That is another problem, the insurance companies charge more for health insurance for the individual and their family than they do to the companies where they can give group rates. Individuals who are below the poverty level are doomed and so are their families. Many people can get some help from the government if the have kids in the household and are below the poverty level but the help they receive does not cover every health issue or medication that might be needed. It is odd how the government can appoint themselves as God and decide who is to die and who isn’t. This is about what it amounts to. If they do not receive the healthcare and medications they need, many will die. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
