Cat Health Care The health care your cat receives depends on you. How well do you know your cat? You should get to know your cat so you will know when the cat is having health problems and when they are a happy, healthy cat. If you know your cat’s personality and actions, you will recognize a problem right away. Everyone has an off day once in a while and this is also true for cats and dogs. If your cat is feeling lazy or just not as active as usual, this may be just one of those days. But when your cat continues with these off days and refuses to eat or drink or eats just a small portion and it is not their regular routine, you should take it to the vet to have it checked out. Your cat can tell you that something is wrong by its actions and if you know the cat well enough you will know there is a problem. If there are no outward symptoms like a show of blood from a cut or injury, or vomiting, etc., it indicates that there may me an internal injury that might be very serious. The only way to find out it to take it to a vet and have the problem diagnosed. There are many health issues a cat may have to face. A regular checkup with your vet will help prevent some problems. It will also help if the vet catches some diseases in their early stages so treatment can be given and maybe cure the problem or at least make the cat more comfortable. Cats need different vaccinations and wormers to rid them or prevent them from getting diseases and to get rid on worms on a regular basis. Some vaccinations are needed yearly. Your vet can set up a schedule for you and some may send you reminders when the time for vaccinations are due. Your cat can talk to you by the look in their eyes, tone of their voice, and the position of their ears. They will also let you know something is wrong if they slack off of food and water or just lay around and are not active as usual. The cat’s body language will tell you when something is not right and if you know your cat very well you can pick up on the signals. For instance, if a cat stops using the litter box, it might be getting a bladder infection. They will think of the pain they feel when they use the litter pan and not go there because they do not want the pain. There are many little things that you will notice about the cat if you get to know it well and you will know if and when to take it to the vet. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
