Cheap Health Insurance If you are looking for cheap health insurance, good luck. There is no such thing although many companies claim that they offer cheap health insurance. The cost of medical bills and prescriptions are going up more everyday and many people cannot afford them so they go without. Without some health insurance to help out some it is almost impossible for individuals to afford health insurance premiums. Another problem is the fact that the insurance companies are paying less and less of the medical bills and that leaves the individual stuck to pay the premiums, the co-payment if there is one, the deductibles, which can be thousands, then the remainder of the bills that the insurance company does not pay. Many insurance companies will not pay but 50% or 80% of the medical bills. Some of the services such as x-rays, blood tests, etc. may not get paid by them at all. That means there are going to be a lot of expenses the insured is going to have to pay out of pocket. If there is any such thing as cheap health insurance, beware. Make sure you know the company is a legitimate one and that they will cover the medical bills they say they will. If you have questions, ask them before you sign any papers or give them any money. The cheapest health insurance is usually that offered by the employer because the health insurance companies can offer the companies group rates for their employees. The health insurance companies want to insure the healthy people, not the ones who already suffer from health issues and those who are not working and can not afford the insurance premiums. Individual health insurance is very expensive if you have to buy it individually directly from the health insurance company. If you buy it from the place of employment you get group discounts and the premiums will be much cheaper than it would be if you purchased it straight from the health insurance company. Many people cannot afford health insurance unless their employer offers to pay a portion of the premiums. Sometimes the employer will pay 100% of the premiums but it is very rare. More of them will pay 50% of the premiums (if any) and the balance will be taken out of the insured person’s payroll check. The health insurance companies want healthy young individuals to buy their insurance because that is where the most of the profit is for them. The older individuals usually have the need for more health services and by giving the company group rates, the health people are paying for the not so healthy. This means more profit in the health insurance company’s pocket. They do not really care about the individual, they are thinking profit and seeing dollar signs. That is why the older people who have existing health issues can not get insurance or if they do manage to get some from a company, they will pay outrageous health insurance premiums for it.
