There are many health insurance companies and it is a headache sometimes trying to decide which one can suit your needs and at the budget you can afford. There are many plans to choose from so you can choose one that will fit the needs of yourself and your family. Many people get their health coverage through their place of employment so they will utilize the health insurance company the business chooses. In some cases the employer will pay the insurance premiums for their workers and in other cases the employer gives the employee the opportunity to buy health insurance through them so they can get the group discount rates and save them some money. The premiums are deducted from the employees payroll check. Sometimes the employer will pay just a portion of the premium for the individual and the remainder that is due will be deducted from the individual’s paycheck. There are many companies that can not afford to offer their employees the health insurance so it is up to the individual to find it on their own. In many cases there is not enough money to afford the health insurance premiums so the individual and their families are just out of luck and have to suffer for it. The government has a medicaid program that assists some families and disabled people who fall below the poverty guidelines. But if you live alone or have a spouse and are below the poverty guideline, you are out of luck because you are not disabled, according to their standards, and you have no children living in the home. Doesn’t make much sense, just because you no longer have any children in the home, you are not supposed to get sick, or you are supposed to be able to pay your medical bills with the minimum wage you are getting.
No matter how hard they try, many people can not afford health insurance and do not qualify for government assistance so they are suffering from lack of medical care and medications they might need. There are people who have not seen a doctor in years simply because they cannot afford to go. The government lets the health care givers (hospitals, doctors, and drug companies) charge the individual whatever they want to charge them and the costs are so outrageous that the individuals just cannot afford them. So this means the individual and their families are suffering. There is so much of our tax money wasted that could be used to provide health insurance for every man, woman, and child who are citizens of the United States.
