Dental Health
Dental health is offered to the public in addition to other health insurance or it can be purchased separately. Some people who have medicare or other health insurance may just need to add the dental insurance on as a supplemental insurance to their other insurance. Denture insurance is much like the health insurance in that it usually has a deductible needed and in some cases there are co-payments which need to be paid each visit to the dentist. The premiums will vary depending on the coverage you choose. Some dental plans will cover 100% of the cost after the deductible is met each year and others will offer a percentage of the cost and the individual will be responsible for the remaining portion of the bill. Many people do not have dental insurance because they can not afford it or they do not go to the dentist often enough to feel the need for it. Sometimes the place of employment of the individual will offer health insurance but not dental insurance unless the dental problem requires surgery. Then the insurance company may pay a portion of the bill or in some cases, all of it. Some insurance companies will offer one dental checkup per year and the insurance will pay the bill. Not many of them do this though unless you are paying a large premium for your health coverage. Some health insurance companies offer the dental plan in their options but the premiums will be more than for those who choose not to get the dental plan. It isn’t very likely that someone with dentures would need any dental work very often. In this case it might be more beneficial for the individual to not get the dental coverage although the insurance company may try to convince you otherwise. The insurance companies are thinking of profit, not the well being of the customer.
Millions of people do not have dental insurance because they can not afford it. Most of those people also do not have health insurance because the premiums are too expensive for them. There are some government programs that help some people. If you have a family which includes children, you can get help for the children, and in some cases, for yourself and your spouse. There are many people who fall between the cracks and do not have health or dental insurance because they do not make enough money to pay the premiums. Are not drawing SSI or SS, and do not have children living at home anymore. These people have to suffer because they do not fit into any of the groups the government has planned out.
