Dog Health
Many people feel that the health of their dog is just as important as the health of a child. If a person is going to have a pet like a dog, cat, lizard or whatever it is, it deserves to be healthy and taken care of. There are thousands of vets across the nation who are qualified to give your dog health care if it is needed. There are some things the pet owner can do to keep their dog healthy and that is to make sure they have the necessary shots and wormed on a regular basis as recommended by their vet. They may also need daily vitamins or supplements. It is a good idea to give them a healthy treat if they do something good and doggy bones to chew on to maintain healthy teeth. Candy is not good for a dog and they should never have chocolate. Dogs love attention and lots of love. They do not require much but they can give us hours of pleasure and company without complaining. Dogs are very good for people who live alone to keep them company. Sometimes the elderly have pets to keep them company and it may even keep them active and more healthy if they are not totally alone. Plus there are a lot of lonely dogs in pounds that need to be adopted so it is fixing two problems at the same time.
People who have dogs can usually tell when their pet is not feeling good. After you have been around them a while you can learn what their actions mean and you can tell if they are happy or if something is wrong. Sometimes there are outward signs and symptoms such as getting thin although they are eating good, scratching their ears a lot, their tail is hanging down instead of standing up, diarrhea, and many other symptoms that you can see and know the dog needs medical care. Many times it is not a serious problem but sometimes it is. Only a check up at the vets can tell you for sure unless you are a dog breeder and in this case you usually know when you can fix the problem and when it is serious enough to seek the vets help.
Dogs can get worms from the soil and if not treated they can kill your dog. If you have children around, they can also get the worms from the dogs if they let the dog lick on them., or if the child gets any of the dog’s feces on them. In some cases the dog will cough up the worm eggs and swallow them where they attach themselves to the intestines. Sometimes they will pass some of them in their feces. The dogs need to be wormed on a regular basis because they can get them over and over if not taken care of.
