Dog Health Care Dog health care is important if you are going to have one. A dog can make a great pet and companion if you take care of it and give it some attention. Dogs love attention and they need obedience so they do not request too much attention, such as licking in the face, etc.. Dogs can be very lovable but they can also have health problems that will demand your attention. They need yearly vaccinations to prevent the diseases that dogs get. Some of these are distemper, parvo, lepto, hepatitis, rabies, and other problems. They need to be wormed on a regular basis because they can pick up worms or eggs in the soil so even though you have already wormed them does not mean that they can not get them over and over again. There are several different types of worms the dogs can get so there are different medications for the different types of worms. Some of the medications do not destroy the worm eggs so the worming process will have to be repeated a time or two in order to get rid of the worms as they hatch. Your vet can give you what you need and give you the instructions on how to use them. Dogs are much like humans in that they have an off day every once in a while. They may feel kind of draggy and not too ambitious. They may just lay around and not want to do much. This may or may not be an indication that something is wrong. If they refuse to eat or drink anything, it might be best to take them to the vet so they can check out the dog to make sure there isn’t something seriously wrong.. As long as they are eating and still drinking plenty of water, it might just be a short draggy day for them. Sometimes they have that yucky feeling and do not feel like doing anything. If you know your dog pretty well, you can tell if they are not feeling well if there are no outward symptoms that are noticeable. A healthy dog is a happy dog and you can usually tell the difference in their actions and if there is a change of personality. There are many diseases and other health problems that a dog can have. Some of them are problems that humans get too. Sometimes the dog can have bladder or kidney infections and will require treatment for it. They can get cancer, heart problems, arthritis, and many other health issues that humans get. You can get a check up for your doctor every year and the vet can check for some of the most common health issues a dog has. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
