Health Care There has been a lot of controversy about health care in the United States for the past few years. Millions of people have very little or no health care at all and many people blame the reason, in part, on the government for their lack of control on medical billing, etc. The cost of medications and medical help has soared to unreachable heights by many who do not have any health care and for many who do have healthcare. Many health insurance companies today pay very little of medical bills and this leaves an outrageous amount for the patient to pay. Many people are going without medications because they cannot afford the doctor visits and the prescriptions they need. There are some countries which have a government which pays all medical bills for their citizens. It might be a good idea for the United States to learn from them. If some countries can do it, the United States should be able too since they are considered one of the richest countries in the world. It is a situation that needs to be addressed and something done about it. People are dying every day because they cannot get the medical help they need. Hospitals turn you out or do not let you in if you can not pay your bills. For a measly $5.15 per hour minimum wage, the people are supposed to be able to pay the high cost of gas, groceries, clothing, utilities, taxes, and pay their medical bills too. It is really a shame that a country that is supposed to be so rich is actually very poor if the truth is known about it. The government likes to put up a good front and make the other countries think the U.S. is rich (and there are a select few that are), but the majority of the population is mid to low income people. Many companies cannot afford to give their employees health insurance but they expect their employees to be there to work everyday without getting sick. Health care is a major problem in this country and one wonders how far it has to go and how many people will have to die before someone wakes up and gets something done about it. We hear everyday about money the government is wasting on airplanes that are not wanted and other unnecessary spending that could be used a health care system for our country. The government controls utilities in a way that they will not allow them to overcharge the customers so why can’t the government put a lid on the overcharging of medications and medical bills? It does not make any sense and there are many people who would like to know the answers to these and other questions. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
