Health Care Careers There are many different health care careers to choose from today and there is a need for many more of them. If it is a health care career you want, there is a demand for them. Your options are vast and you can choose from a long list of choices. Many of the health care jobs available require very little education and others require years of study. There is always a need for doctors and nurses, as well as therapists, caregivers, and medical aids. Some people want to be x-ray technicians and there are jobs in that field also. There are job openings in nearly every health related field there is. Pick one that you are interested in and not just one that pays well. The United States spends about 11 percent of it’s gross national product on health care. This amounts to about 500 billion dollars each year. Some of this money goes to treatment and prevention and some goes to develop new procedures and more advanced equipment. While this is a lot of money, it is not near enough for treatment . There are millions of people who are without health care in the United States and there should not be any. There needs to be a new health reform and soon! Our present president can not see the need. It seems that he either has not done his homework or he just does not care. He is more concerned about getting healthcare to everyone in Iraq instead of his own country. There are almost 7 million people who work in the health care field. It is expected that the growth of opportunities for jobs in this field will continue to grow. There are more people getting close to retirement age and people are living longer so it makes sense that there is going to be a great need for more medically trained people. Many students who are thinking about a medical career are thinking about doctors and nurses and do not realize there are many other opportunities in the medical field. They have the notion that they want to help people and save lives and that very commendable. The medical field requires highly trained workers and the medical jobs growth will grow faster in some areas more than others. Some of the other areas of medical careers are surgeons, radiology, dietetics, anesthesiology, pharmacisttherapeutic recreation, respiratory care, rehabilitation, orthoptist or prosthetist, optician, nuclear medicine, health information management, and many more opportunities. Do some research and find the medical career that interests you the most. Remember that medical workers also maintain health, prevent illnesses, and provide support for practitioners.
