Or if you are looking for a specific one, you can search on yahoo and draw up a map to the location of the one you are looking for. The map will show you the shortest direction to the location, you are needing, from your home. Your State Mental Health Agency can be helpful to you by telling you what mental services are available in your state. Your doctor can also refer you to someone at your local health center and refer you to a licensed therapist. You can get free health publications on mental health topics from the National Mental Health Information Center. You can order the publications by ordering them online at http://nmhicstore.samhsa.gov/publications/ordering.aspx or by emailing your name and address to nmhic-info@samhsa.hhs.gov, or you can call the Information Center toll free at 1-800-789-2647. You can get information about the different mental health disorders and what can be done to help the situation and where to get help. There are many factors which can cause mental health problems. Physical and mental abuse, drugs, alcohol, depression, suicidal victims, and more may be the cause of the problem. There are no specific statistics about mental illness but there are many in this country who are suffering from some form of mental illness and not all of them are getting the help they need. The Center of Mental Health Services gives grants to states and local centers to promote community based mental health systems which provides treatment and support services. The also make Community block grants to states. There is comprehensive mental health services available to adults with serious mental disorders and for children who have serious emotional problems. You can check with your County Health Department to find the closest mental health center in your area and they can answer questions for you. If you know someone who needs help and they do not seek the help voluntarily and they may be a danger to themselves or others, a family member can contact the treatment center and have the individual committed. This can be for inpatient or outpatient treatment and includes forced medications if necessary. The laws differs in different states so you need to find out what the laws are in your state concerning mental health.
