Senior Health Senior health care services leave a lot to be desired. Many seniors can not afford to get the type of health care they need because their Medicare and medicaid does not cover everything they need it too. Many senior citizens have to decide whether they will buy groceries or their medications they need to survive. It is a shame that we have such a country that is supposed to be one of the richest in the world but has one of the worst health care system in the world. Something is dreadfully wrong with this picture. You would think one of the richest countries in the world could take care of their senior citizens in their later years. We live in a world of greedy and selfish governments and they want power so they do not want anyone in their country with any power so they want to keep everyone poor and unhealthy. As long as the rich people get top of the line medical care (paid for by the hard working, poor man’s taxes) that is all they care about. Those senior citizens who are on Social Security or disability can get medicare and in some cases medicaid. However some people do not qualify for this assistance and for those who do qualify, the aid does not pay for all of the medical bills and the individual often has to buy supplemental health insurance to pay the medical bills and medications that the Medicare and Medicaid does not pay. With the baby boomers becoming of retirement age, there is going to be a larger problem. The Medicare programs will probably pay even less of the medical bills because there are going to be more people to give medical care to. The bad thing is that the seniors pay a premium each month for the health care that they receive but it is not a complete coverage. It only pays a portion of it. The individual is responsible for the rest of the bill unless they have a supplemental health insurance. Many of these people are not drawing a very big monthly Social Security check so they are having trouble making ends meet. Senior Citizens might be able to sustain or improve their health if they exercise and eat a proper diet. There is a new diet food pyramid which lists the foods that are much better for us (according to researchers). This pyramid is not like the one we learned about in health class years ago. This new one lists whole grains (rice, oats, beans, etc.), fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, milk, eggs, and others. You can find this new pyramid online by doing a search on a search engine.
