The bottom line for health care providers is profits. They could care less if the individual gets the health care they need in order to survive. The health insurance companies are charging high premiums for health insurance and they only like to insure people through their employers because they can get large numbers of employees to sign up. This means much more profits in their pockets. They prefer the healthy, young employees because they have to pay out more for those who are older or those who have health problems and that usually comes hand in hand. The older employees are usually not as healthy as the younger people and will require more medical treatment. In many cases, the health insurance company will not cover anyone with a pre-existing condition for at least two years for that condition. In some cases of an ongoing illness, the health insurance companies may deny the individual health insurance. This is so unfair but the government allows it to happen. In fact, the government health medicaid program is not much better. They will give families, who fall below poverty level, health assistance through their medicaid program if they have children in the home or they are legally disabled and getting government assistance such as SSI. There are others who do not have any children in the home, but still are living on a limited income which is below the poverty level, and they can not get any medical assistance.
The United States health care reform system needs some major overhauling and it needs it now. There seems to be very little being done with it and the current president does not see the need for change in the health care. He does not see anyone who does not have healthcare. But he does think that there is a need in other countries. He needs to take a close look at his own country and its needs. It seems that he doesn’t care that people in his own country (maybe people who voted for him) needs help too. There is a great need for some drastic changes in the government and it is a good idea to start at the top. Some of the senators and representatives have been in power too long too because some of them are not helping the dire situation either.
