World Health Organization

The World health Organization is a group of about 103 countries around the world who try to keep health problems under control. If a contagious disease should breakout in one country, the World Health Organization needs to know about it so they can help work on keeping the disease contained in one country and not let it spread if possible. They want to be able to contain the disease before it spreads out of control. The International Health Regulations of 2005 is an international law that helps countries work together to save lives caused by the spread of diseases or other health problems that might be a risk to the population. The International Health Regulations is a major part of the World health Organization to help strengthen the defenses against the dangerous diseases and prevent the spread of them. In 2005 the IHR made a new set of rules to support the ones already in place to strengthen the alert and response system of an outbreak. This would require the countries involved to improve their surveillance and reporting systems to stop the spread of diseases from one country to another through travel or trade.

There are some very serious diseases the World Health organization have been very worried about for several years. The spread of these diseases can be spread from one person to another through travel such as planes, buses, trains, cruises, and any form of travel from one country to another. Some epidemics can be spread by way of animals which make their way from one country to another either by itself or by shipment by humans. There have been diseases spread by way of products shipped to different countries such as fruits, meat, vegetables, and fish.

Global health security is very important and the Organization has to work together and as swiftly as possible should an epidemic break out. They have to be ready to act immediately, In the past ten years or so there has been several diseases that the WHO has been keeping a close watch on. Since the terrorists have began making their threats, every country has been on it’s toes and has improved their security to hopefully prevent a pandemic. There has been millions of dollars spent to beef up security in the United States but there is still a lot that can be done to further the security. Since the 911 disaster, the United States has been trying to add security but there are still people in the United States that can do harm to the people and the country. It is just a matter of when or where. At least this is what is in some people’s minds. In the meantime it is life as usual. One can not go around scared everyday. That would be a disaster in itself if everyone panicked with each threat the U. S. received..
