Department of Home Land Security The Department of Home land Security was purposed by the President of the United States as a way to create better security for the country and other countries around the world. The security is created to make the country safer against terrorists because of past threats and incidents which indicates that something was necessary to guard against such threats. The Homeland Security works with citizens, private industry, trade organizations and all levels of government to make America as safe as possible. If a citizen is interested, there is a wide variety of options to work with Homeland Security on many levels. The mission of the Homeland Security Organization is to make an effort to secure America. They will try to prevent and stop terrorist acts and respond to threats to the nation. They will try to ensure safe borders, welcome the lawful immigrants and visitors, and try to keep the flow of commerce smooth and free. Homeland Security is responsible for the safety of Americans not only in the case of terrorism and threats, but also in the cases of natural disasters and other emergencies. They need to be aware of and be able to identify threats and be trained so they know what to do with them in the proper way. They need to safeguard the public and be able to know the difference in a threat or unlawful act and act accordingly as trained. Many Americans agree to the need of Homeland Security, however many believe that their privacy is being abused by the Homeland Security and FBI. The American public is being spied on just as the foreign immigrants and any one coming into the country so they feel that they are being treated as no less than criminals in their own country where they were born and raised. In the process of Securing our country, we are losing our freedoms and rights. The Homeland Security and other government Organizations seem to be taking more and more freedoms away from us every day. There is no freedom if they control our every move in our every day lives. While there are some Americans need to be watched, there is no need to spy on every citizen in the United States and nose into their emails, etc. If they have reason to believe that one individual is suspicious in some way, it is not an open invitation to keep vigilance over everyone. We definitely need some security in this country so in the interest of all Americans, it is hoped that they Homeland Security has the Americans best interest at heart and are not there to do more than just keep the terrorists out. There are very many mixed feelings about the Homeland Security so we have to try believe they are there for us and will do their best to protect us as they are meant.
