All computers, both laptops and desk top models need firewalls to block viruses and trojans and other uninvited guests trying to track where you go and what you do online to try to gain as much information about you as possible. They want to steal your identity or credit cards or online pay processors information or bank information to steal your money or get as much information as they can about you. A good firewall to add to your computer system is Zone Alarm. It is very efficient and it is free to download from the internet. Other security you need is a virus protection which can scan your computer and get rid of the viruses which have invaded your computer through your surfing online or through emails. A very good free software for viruses is Ad-Aware. It will scan the computer and get rid of the viruses on the computer. You can upgrade the Ad-Aware and get even more protection. The 'Spybot Search and Destroy' is noted to be one of the best free trojan detectors and will scan the computer and find and get rid of trojans that Ad-Aware might not find. The two work well together if you use them often. It is best to run then every day or two to keep the intruders from getting your information from your computer. It is also wise to clear the cache and do a disc cleanup often. This will delete the temporary files which may contain your secret passwords in the files. There are many good software programs to make your computer more secure and it is best if you utilize them whenever possible. It is much better to be safe than sorry. The bug or viruses can do a lot of damage to the computer harddrive if it isn't taken care of. The cost of the computer and the information you will save is a very good reason to make sure your computer is secure.
