Home Security Tip Home security systems can vary from a simple deadbolt lock to the more high tech home security systems with all of the accessories. Installing deadbolts on the doors is a good security tip but the intruder can beat on them long enough to finally make entry into the house if he has enough time and no one is around to hear the pounding. Add a security alarm to the mix and they will leave more quickly. The noise will deter them enough that they will not stick around to pound the deadbolt locks off. Sometimes just a few simple security devices like that can save your family and your personal belongings. Another good security tip is to have your 911 address in large 5 or 6 inch numbers and letters in a good place so they can be seen clearly from the street, so the emergency responders can find the right house in a hurry. Lives can be lost and property damaged while the emergency vehicles are trying to find the right home if they are not clearly marked. The three most dreaded enemies of the intruder is time, light, and noise. With motion detector lights above the doors of the home and deadbolt locks on the doors and locks on the inside of windows, plus a security alarm, you are loaded with the three basic weapons to deter the intruder. The cost of these three security devices is minimal compared to what can be lost if the intruder makes it into your home. Spend a little now to secure your home and save a lot later on when the intruder moves on to some other house because yours is off limits with the security measures you have taken. If you have a security sign in your yard and security decals on the windows or doors the intruder will think twice about trying to enter the home. Even though there are no security devices installed, the intruder does not know this and is not going to take the chance of getting caught if there is. Trim all bushes in front of any windows so the intruders can not hide behind them and you can have full view of the yard from within the home. Bushes such as rose bushes or barberry bushes are thorny and will discourage the intruder from trying to enter through the window. Steel or solid hardwood outside doors are recommended for best security. Do not have valuables within eyesight through a window or doorway. If the thief does not see any valuables there is a chance that the owners do not have any or that they are in a safe place such as a bank deposit box or vault. A little safety now can go a long way in securing your home. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
