Home Land Security

Home Land Security, good for us or not? That seems to be the debate as many people feel that the Government and Homeland Security have overstepped their bounds in our private lives. Many feel that the new Homeland Bills that have been passed are so the government can keep track of us and everything we do instead of to protect us. If I am an American and a solid citizen, why does the Homeland Security need to track my emails and any other move I make? I can understand this if I were a criminal, child molester, or member of the Taliban or someone who poses a threat to our country and its people. Those people need to be watched, but the majority of us are innocent United States Citizens and are being shoved into the same class as the criminals by being watched and harassed by the authorities.

Strengthening security of the nation is necessary with the fighting and threats in Iran and other countries now at war. There is a need to distinguish the terrorists from the honest citizens. However once each of us has been checked out by the Homeland Security, we should be left alone. What is the necessity for further surveillance like nosing into our private lives and constantly checking and scanning our emails, etc. or anything else we do on the internet. Where is the freedom in that?

The Homeland Security is cracking down on money transfers by the terrorists and there is a lot of good being done to protect our country and other countries which are in danger from the terrorists. If the Homeland security continues to stop the terrorists and work with the other countries to insure their safety, it will be worthwhile. However they need to stay within their boundary and not harass the Americans who are paying their salaries. There is an increasing cooperation of other countries to help control the terrorists and bring peace by finding and capturing them.

There is a great need for an organization such as Homeland Security and with the aid of other law enforcements maybe the terrorism can be stopped. This will help control the possibility of future chemical, biological, nuclear attacks or any other form of terrorism. The need to stop them is greater than any other item on the government agenda at this time. All we can hope for is that in keeping a close watch on all of us, the Homeland Security can and will be able to stop the world of terrorism as we know it today. It is a sure thing that we do not want to live our lives in fear.
