Phentermine Diet Pill

Phentermine is one of the most popular diet drugs. It was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1959. It is currently sold under the name brands of Ionamin and Adipex-P. It requires a prescription from your doctor before you can get it. You should be aware of the many side effects it could cause and always remember that it is habit forming so you do not want to take it for long and when you are going to stop taking it, do it slowly because it can cause withdrawal side effects if you try to stop it all at once. Phentermine is a diet pill that suppresses the appetite and is also used as a stimulant for the central nervous system. Some of the possible side effects are diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth or unpleasant taste in the mouth, impotence, changes in sex drive, insomnia, headache, dizziness, nervousness, anxiety, restlessness, tremors, high blood pressure, hallucinations, abnormal behavior, confusion, irregular heartbeat, or an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or breaking out in hives).

Phentermine is a drug that should be taken seriously and as prescribed by the doctor. It is to be taken with a full glass of water and on an empty stomach. If a dose is missed, take it when you think about it unless it is close to time to take another dose. In this case skip the missed dose and take the next one when it is due. Do not take Phentermine late in the day because it may cause insomnia. Do not crush or chew the pill or capsule. Swallow it whole with water. If you accidentally take an overdose, get emergency medical help immediately. Some of the possible symptoms for an over dose of Phentermine is tremor. Restlessness, rapid breathing, confusion, hallucinations, panic, aggressiveness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, and seizures. Seek help immediately. Call 911 if there is no one there to help you. Time is important.

Phentermine is sold as either an immediate release form of pill known as Adipex or as a slow release resin known as Ionamin. Phentermine is one of the two drugs in the anti obesity medication known as Fen-Phen. Part of this drug known as Fenfluramine was withdrawn from the US market in 1997 after there were reports of valvular heart disease and pulmonary hypertension as well as some possible deaths reported because of this drug. Phentermine has since been put back on the market by itself, in most countries. It is now considered a Schedule IV controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act. Phentermine should be used short term only and withdrawal should be slow to prevent other health problems. It is recommended to those who are obese and may be facing other health problems because of their obesity.
