Drug Rehab Statistics

The drug rehab statistics show that there has been a gradual decrease in most drugs. This study was taken in 2006 and was done on 8th, 10th, and 12th graders. It seems that most of the use of the majority of drugs has declined, others are stable, and a few are on the rise. The inhalants showed no change from 2005 to 2006. Marijuana seems to have decreased from 72.6 percent in 2005 to 70.7 percent in 2006. Meth decreased in 10th graders from 2.9 percent in 2005 to 1.8 percent in 2006 but increased among the 12th graders from 54.6 percent in 2005 to 59.1 percent in 2006. It appears that some prescription drugs increased and some usage decreased between 2005 and 2006. The use of cigarettes and nicotine decreased in all grades from 2005 to 2006. Crack cocaine also decreased between 2005 and 2006. Heroin decreased among the eighth graders but increased among the 12th graders between 2005 and 2006. Ecstacy decreased from 2005 to 2006 from 30.2 percent to 27.4 percent. The use of alcohol decreased from 75.1 percent to 72.7 percent from 2005 to 2006.

The studies show that there are less African/American students using alcohol, illicit drug abuse other than marijuana, and alcohol. It shows that the white 12th graders have the highest rates of illicit drugs and the Hispanic 8th graders have a higher rate for alcohol. In the findings in 2006 the illicit drugs were used by nearly the same amount of males as females.

It has been reported that there are children as young as five or six that are experimenting with alcohol or drugs and this is a scary situation. There is going to be a greater need for more rehab centers if this is a growing trend. The drug dealers need to be shot for giving our children and grandchildren candy and other things that are laced with drugs just to get them addicted. They are greedy people and care nothing for the kids and the fact that they are hurting the kids both physically and mentally. The dealers are out to get the almighty dollar at any cost and the cost is our children’s loves. There are drug rehab centers for the adolescents and if you have a child or know of one that needs treatment, try to get them help as soon as possible before their health is affected more from the drugs. The kids today have a lot of peer pressure and stress on them so it is very hard for them not to be convinced to try something whether it is good for them or not.
