Drug Rehab Treatment Drug rehab treatment is available nationwide and also around the world to those who want help. They have to first acknowledge that they have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Nearly all addicts refuse to admit that they have a problem in the beginning but after they hit bottom, they are ready for drug or alcohol rehab treatment. In most cases it will take a long term (3 months or more) to recover from the addiction and it cannot usually be done at home with just friends and family helping. Rehab centers have professionals to give the treatment on an individual basis because the needs of everyone will differ. Rehab treatment consists of more than just detox. There are steps to the rehab process and detoxification is just the first step. There is often medications and therapy needed to get the individual back on track to living a normal life. The underlying problem that started the addiction process in the first place has to be dealt with so the professionals are there to help the patient figure out what the initial problem was that caused the depression and addiction. There is often a lot of peer pressure and pressure from society which can really cause a problem for some people. Family members often have money problems or marital problems and this can lead to addictions. Long term illnesses can lead to prescription drug addictions. Movie stars, singers and models and other people in the limelight, can often become stressed so they try to find solace in a bottle on by popping a pill. They do not have any privacy and are always under pressure from the public and their managers, etc. so they may not be able to cope with the pressure. There are inpatient and outpatient rehab treatment available and there are rehab facilities in nearly every large city so there is usually one near anyone needing help. Some hospitals have rehab facilities in them or they may be in their own clinic. If you know of someone who might have an addiction, it is wise to try to convince them to get help before they hurt themselves or someone else. The Inpatient program seems to have the most successful affect on the patients. They are more likely to be ok for the rest of their lives and not have a relapse. Those who just check in for a week or two usually end up going back to their old addiction or something worse. One of the things a person has to do when they get out is to avoid people and places where the drugs or alcohol is available so they are not tempted. Sometimes this means making new friends and not running with the crowd that supported your addiction. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
