Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center There is a drug and alcohol rehab center in nearly every large city and in some medium sized cities so there should be one near you if you need it or know of someone who does. There are three different stages in rehab detox programs. There is Medical detox, physical detox, and emotional detox. It is important for the individual to receive the right treatment they need so it is important to go to a rehab center. The individual usually cannot stop their addiction by themselves and friends and family can not usually help them much either. The victim has to admit to having a problem and want to get help. They can not be forced into it or it will not work. If it does work, it will not be for the long haul. Many times the individual falls back into their old habits if they continue to run with the crowd that supported the addiction and added fuel to the fire. The best way to get clean and stay clean is to avoid those who also do drugs or drink and also admit yourself to a rehab center and stay there for at least three months. It is believed that the individual has a better chance of a full recovery if they are in rehab at least three months as an inpatient. Many people will go to rehab for a week or two and think they are cured but later falls back into the same abyss they tried to climb out of before. The treatment for each individual will be different and there are professionals in the rehab centers who can determine which treatment is the one best suited for each individual. The system has to be first cleaned out by detoxification. Then the individual will require mental therapy to determine the cause of the onset of the addiction in the first place. A person does not become an addict just because they want to, there has to be a reason or cause for it. Sometimes it is stress, sometimes abuse, and sometimes it is something else. That is where the professionals come in. They can help the individual figure out what started the addiction and why it started. From that they can determine what form of treatment will be the best for the individual. The medical detox consists of a medical doctor supervising your withdrawal from the drugs or alcohol. This is done in order to enable the individual to complete this phase safely and with the least amount of complications possible. This procedure can take several days depending on the individual. The Physical detox is the phase where the individual begins to rebuild their body to improve their physical health. A nutritionist is helpful at this phase by developing a balanced diet for the individual so it will help them through the rest of the detox treatment. The emotional detox can be very hard on the emotional part of the individual’s health. This is why most rehab’s offer counceling during detox. All Text Copyright © Safety2005.org |
