Trimspa Celebrities
It is believed that the only way Trimspa has survived is by having celebrities as spokesmen for the product. Anna Nicole Smith was hired as the company spokesperson in October, 2003. Prior to her joining the company, Trimspa was in financial trouble because of the lack of sales. Hiring Anna Nicole Smith after the company found out she lost 69 pounds in about 8 months helped increase their sales for about two years. Anna Nicole appeared in their commercials and banner ad campaigns. The sales soared for a while. Then the lawsuits and complaints about the products began to surface and the sales began to fall again. For the past three years company sales have been on the downhill slide. It was discovered that Anna Nicole was taking other aids to help her lose weight while she was taking the Trimspa pills so there is no proof that the trimspa helped her at all. Anna Nicole Smith and the Trimspa company have been named in lawsuits, some of which are still pending. They have been charged with false advertising and making misleading statements about their diet pills. The Federal trade Commission fined the Trimspa company $1.5 million for false advertising and not having the scientific proof to back up their statements about their products. The Trimspa company agreed to pay the fine on January 4, 2007 and claimed it was not an admission of guilt, it was just to get the Federal Trade Commission to stop their investigation which has been going on for about two years.
There is speculation that the Trimspa could not survive if it was not for their unique marketing strategies. The diet pills do not seem to be working for a lot of people. Some claim they tried the pills and they did nothing for them. Others said they tried the diet pills and lost a few pounds then gained them back plus more after they stopped taking the pills. Some Trimspa customers had to stop taking the pills because of side effects. One person experienced pains in his elbows, wrists, and knees and also in the lower part of his abdomen. He also had stomach aches while taking the pills. He claimed the pain started out mild then kept getting worse each day so he stopped taking the diet pills. After he stopped taking them it took about 3 to 4 days for the pains to completely subside. The Trimspa company keeps some of their ingredients a secret so it is hard to tell if the pills are safe for you to sue or not. There have been many reported side effects and some of them can be quite severe.
